Last week’s tarot reading was published on May 10th, and the Ace of Wands tarot card helped to predict a financial “stumble” and “signs of wealth-related karma about prominent figures in the news” that would manifest as “…a spiral going downward and instigating early stages of signs of global financial karma —and trauma”. As of May 11th, there was a plunge in shares and a continued cryptocurrency stock market crash that diminished values throughout the week.
According to this week’s tarot card, upcoming news will cover up investigations into a phenomenon of Republicans posing as Democrats in the U.S. Senate.

Tarot Card of the Week: Knight of Wands Reversed
The Knight of Wands is an active, energetic presence. Knights are generally helpers. However, when this card is in reverse, their ability to help might be delayed or even blocked, at least for now. Knights are not only service-oriented but are part of the “Court Card” roles, which include Pages, Queens, and Kings. Royal Court Cards can represent people, a state of mind, an aspect of your psyche, a collective psychological phenomenon, a global event, or a combination of any of the above. As a card that signifies a person, this would most likely represent someone who is a fire sign, especially Leo, and who is both charismatic and magnetic, and who may find themselves at the centre of attention whether they are seeking it out or not. Alternatively, in a general reading this could be someone who appears in or returns to your life when the Sun moves into Leo (late July through late August). The figure is charging forward on a horse and holds a wand. But does this persona portray a man, a woman, or someone of another gender?
Reading Gender in Tarot Readings
Traditionally, Court Cards that were read as a specific person in the querent’s life used to be interpreted as male or female. However, the Western world is finally catching up to what Indigenous cultures have known since time immemorial—that there are many genders. I am not an expert on gender but I am aware that in the Jewish tradition, the Torah alludes to gender fluidity and has acknowledged at least six genders for thousands of years. So how would we read a Page, Knight, King, or Queen in the Court Cards?
Part of the answer is that Pages and Knights can be of any gender. I read them more as a reflection of someone’s personality who is connected to the life of a querent. In terms of a Kings and Queens, these royalty cards can be read according to the gender that someone most identifies with. For a person who is non-binary, they could be represented by a King or Queen card (or Page or Knight) and they can show up as either one in different readings. For instance, if you have a partner who is non-binary and you are asking a question about them they might show up as a King or Queen or at times as a Page or Knight. It’s more about who someone is on a soul level and the actions they take, and those particular personal traits will be described in every card you learn and turn. Soul goes beyond gender, and that is especially true if you believe that we have existed throughout multiple lifetimes.
But what about age? Kings and Queens are normally read as older figures, but what if you are an old soul? Do you count your spiritual age based on the first time you incarnated as a human being, the number of times you’ve been reincarnated, or the biological age of your current form?
Reading Age in Tarot Readings
If you’ve been reading cards for a while (and I know that some of you reading this have, and others of you are professionals at this so please comment below with your thoughts about this topic), you have probably noticed that booklets will refer to “older” figures such as Kings and Queens as being “40 and older”. You can throw away that VERY outdated idea! The cards were developed centuries ago when life expectancies were shorter. 40s is still young by contemporary standards and people can have a quality of life well beyond that, so what is the current standard for “older” when we are interpreting King and Queen tarot cards? Personally, I usually read “older” as meaning older than the querent, or the person asking the question. Pages and Knights might be younger or close to the age of the Querent.
Can Court Cards denote maturity rather than biological age? Yes, in some cases, but one of the benefits of reading Court Cards based on biological age in relation to the querent is that they can give the reader clues about which person the spread is referring to. Sometimes I think of it as a “game” of process of elimination. As a reader, you are a detective looking for clues to answer questions about the past, present, and future, in the hopes of helping to make someone’s life a little better than before you read their spread.
The Knight of Wands and Astrology
Upright, The Knight of Wands is normally an adventurous card, but in reverse it asks you to pause before making a decision, especially if it is not critical that you take action now.* In some interpretations, this card relates to the planet Mars, which could mean an association with Scorpio or Aries. There is a Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio reaching into tomorrow which not only connects with a card that represents Mars, but an Eclipse can also be equated with a tarot card in Reverse.
Eclipses are disguises and retrogrades are reversals.
Considering that Mercury is in Retrograde and there is a Lunar Eclipse this week, it makes astrological sense that the card of the week would be in reverse. I will elaborate more on the prevailing Eclipse and Retrograde later in this post.
World News from the Future
Since the Knight of Wands is ruled by not only Mars but also the sign of Leo (which in itself is ruled by the Sun), this card can reveal informaton about future entertainment news. Expect that actors and some other celebrities who have Scorpio or Aries in prominent positions in their natal charts will experience media-related setbacks and even challenging stories published about them throughout this week.
In future economic news, we can read the Knight of Wands Reversed through the lens of the Sun in Taurus, as we did last week with the Ace of Wands. Economically, this combination of Knight of Wands Reversed and Sun in Taurus could play out as a disruption in the values of NFTs, since the creativity of wands cards are an analogy for or description of fire signs. This scare will be looked back on in future news as being akin to the pet rock craze of the 1970s.
Keywords in near-future news include volatility, loss, and delays, and some of the key influential figures involved in causing or being affected by these losses could be Leos or those who are from Leo-ruled cities or countries according to their locational astrology (please keep scrolling to read more about this week’s astrocartography). The tendency that is being highlighted with future NFTs and recent cryptocurrencies is a question of what is real, and what is the value is of illusions? This theme of attempting to place monetary value onto immaterial “objects” or events will continue to recur through 2026, while Neptune is in Pisces. Once Neptune enters Aries, a whole new system of currency and domesticity will have emerged, and future forms of housing will transcend and reorient our present notion of what constitutes monetary value.
If The Moon and The Fool card had a baby, that child would be Neptune in Aries.
But for now let’s get back to this week’s news, particularly in the U.S….
U.S. News from the Future
Towards the beginning of this article, I mentioned that Republicans would be changing their registered party to “Democrat”—but more of a way to infiltrate the Democratic party and vote against party lines than as a genuine change in political beliefs. At the same time, a new, progressive far-left party emerges and the two extremes will eventually be nearly equally vocal—but not for some years. This week, however, clues will be revealed as to the development of this new party, which is an amalgamation of the Green Party and communal living, but that has serious issues of its own.
More specifically, this week’s tarot reading indicates that the U.S. Democratic party will be infiltrated by so-called reformed conservatives who are actually still conservative in their own heads but posing as liberal in their campaigns and speeches. The two will become even more indistinguishable. Yes, both major parties work for the same corporate donors but in the near future what used to even pass as symbolically liberal will continue to become increasingly conservative as both parties move further to the right. In a way, this extremism helps to notify those who were previously unaware that there’s a corporate monopoly running the government and that knowledge is a step forward.
While this is not a fully realised strategy, I have seen under self-hypnosis that an increasing number of Republicans posing as Democrats will be working on campaigns that culminate in them infiltrating the Senate on the other side. In theory, they will pretend that they have had a change of heart but don’t believe it. They are being bribed by corporate lobbyists who are the faces of think tanks that are directing this show. I realise I am veering into conspiracy theory territory here but this is what a card that represents Leo and even Scorpio in reverse can indicate—political figures with manipulative motives who engage in underhanded undertakings for personal gain. However, this card also indicates that those who rise to power under false pretenses at this time will experience their own setbacks and delays, even if that eventual Scorpionic or Leonine karma in reverse takes some months or years to play out.
When I write “Scorpionic or Leonine karma in reverse”, I am referring to the character defects of both of these signs. Every Sun Sign has defects and assets, and in reverse, you can read a card both astrologically and in terms of its character defects, which are potential life lessons that every sign can grow from with experience and choice. Therefore, a card read through its alternative astrological meanings and in reverse is not negative, but offers an opportunity for growth and self-reflection. This is particularly true with the Court Cards, which can literally represent individuals.
These Republicans posing as Democrats will bring more power to conservatives by moving the Democratic party even further to the right in practise. This tendency will build on upcoming uprisings in the United States but these protests will be brewing in more than one South American country. I am seeing issues in Peru, Chile, and Venezuela, but also a new change of government in Brazil over the next couple of years. Speaking of locations in relation to astrology and tarot, let’s take a look at this week’s astrocartography trends.
Astrology Update: Ceres in Cancer and Sun in Gemini
Ceres entered Cancer yesterday. Ceres, like the Greek Goddess Demeter, was the Roman Goddess of agriculture. As such, Ceres has a relationship to Earth signs, particularly Taurus, and subsequently exudes a theme of nourishment. Astrologically and archetypally, the asteroid Ceres represents well-being, self-care, and, if relevant at the time of the reading, letting go of what does not work in order to make space for healthy connections. The irony of being initially emotionally detached in order to be available for a healthy attachment is part of the paradox of Ceres. In this way, Ceres has something in common with Zen Buddhist ideology.
In the sign of Cancer, Ceres can indicate the well-being of family or land or simply needing to be alone like the Cancerian crab in a shell so that you can recharge and regenerate before being social again. If you are an Earth or Water sign, and particularly if you have Cancer in your natal chart, this week offers an invitation to replenish your energy. One practical way of clearing the way would be achieved through introspection or meditation.
The Sun moves into Gemini this Friday. Since cities and countries also have birth charts, we can look at locations that have their Sun in Gemini to anticipate which areas might be more featured in news reports over the next month or so. Astrocartography simply means the methodology of astrology combined with the science of mapmaking (cartography). The date of birth can vary based on historical opinions of when that city or country was founded, and notions of what constitues the start of a makes for lively astrological debates.
Astrocartography and Indigeneity
When taking Indigenous land and the Land Back movement into account, and considering that Indigenous peoples were caretaking these lands long before they were stolen and renamed by settlers, what does astrocartography even mean? Well, it does mean something, at least for now, because locational astrology isn’t about the birth of the land itself.
Astrocartography is based on a natal horoscope that was formed at the time when a region was named according to written documents. The natal chart of a city or country has the potential to predict and how future choices made by governments formed under those names will tend to behave. I am not Indigenous and I am not an expert on Indigenous history (please check out Indigenous scholars like Nick Estes and professors of Indigenous Studies for more information), but I support and advocate for the Land Back movement and would love nothing more than to see the day when land is returned to the ones it rightly belongs to. In that case, astrocartography would still exist, but the charts would be revised.
It is important to note that astrocartography is not an Indigenous practise so there is a question as to whether or not attempting to read astrology into Indigenous lands would be another form of imposing Western ideologies onto Indigenous culture. Regardless of that question, whose answer I don’t know, giving Land Back to Indigenous communities would be the best possible outcome for the climate and environmental crisis and I believe this practise is the only way forward for the survival of humanity and every species who shares this planet with us.
This Week in Astrocartography
In terms of this week’s locational astrology predictions, some of the cities ruled by Gemini are San Francisco, London, Melbourne, and Cardiff, but this is by no means a complete list. Countries with Sun in Gemini include Iceland, Morocco, Belgium, Wales, Eritrea, Guyana, Kuwait, Norway, Montenegro, Sweden, and Tonga. Consequently, this week’s news could highlight significant events that occur in one or more of these places. Incidentally, if you have Sun in Gemini or if Gemini features prominently in your natal chart, you might feel drawn to or tend to cross paths with people from one or more of these destinations.
This Week in Astrology: Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio
Today and tomorrow bring about a Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Scorpio. Eclipses can conceal and some have the ability to reveal, depending on other astrological circumstances of the time. In this case, there is a concealment of something related to destructive material or deeply emotional relationship issues from the past that are coming to the surface for an opportunity to heal. This Lunar Eclipse combined with its aspect of Scorpio sets the tone for a potentially transformative week, especially for those with Sun in Scorpio in addition to readers whose charts contain muliple positions in Scorpio.
For more details on the Eclipse in Scorpio, please check out today’s article from astrologer Jessica Adams. She explains how this eclipse possibly highlights or brings back something that was covered up or disguised from 18 to 19 years ago. I love reading astrological news that invites us to revisit another time in our lives. One of the reasons that I appreciate astrological reappearances is that they help me to compare previous personal experiences to what I can expect in my life today. Astrological recurrences are sometimes more about healing what happened in that prior period than they are about the presence of a similar or congruent theme, but they can be experienced as either or both.
Future News for You
Generally, the Knight of Wands Reversed card indicates that this is not a time to be overconfident about money.* This card can carry the following warning in its upside-down image: be wary of impulsivity now. This message is especially true for readers with Sun or other prominent aspects of Gemini in their natal chart as Mercury continues its retrograde in Gemini.
Based on the wand suit of this card, there is also a caution for the fire signs of Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius to take your time in making decisions that are not urgent. Since The Knight of Wands represents Leos and is Reversed, this could be a week of rethinking plans that particularly resonates with those who have Sun in Leo or if Leo features prominently in your chart. Overall, this is a week of introspection and, in some cases, unavoidably postponed actions. Keep in mind that delays can sometimes be a gift from the universe, urging us to wait on making decisions until something better comes along.

Dear Kyra, I hope you are well. Thank you for this fascinating post - so much food for thought and to reflect on. ..."Eclipses can conceal and some have the ability to reveal, depending on other astrological circumstances of the time. In this case, there is a concealment of something related to destructive material or deeply emotional relationship issues from the past that are coming to the surface for an opportunity to heal"... Amazing!! I have been trying to use the eclipse and the weeks before as an opportunity to have gratitude, release old hurts and really move on. But I'm struggling to understand why an experience I attracted? with a person I misjudged? due to naivety? continues to cause me such deep, ongoing pain and regret. I guess it is about growth. I have tried to learn the lessons, forgive and let go, but the energy still lingers freshly around me. I'm stuck. I can't understand or accept that the other person (who I obviously still care about and have always seen the good in), refuses communication so we may clear the air and move on. I feel stupid and embarrassed. It appears they do not even care enough to give me a second thought. That really hurts. If time permits, would you please pull a card for me? Thanking you so much. Ali.
