Four of Wands

Imagery

The Four of Wands features dancers in celebration. They wear wreaths on their heads and hold bouquets raised to the sky. In the foreground, four wands are tied with ribbons that hold together a larger wreath of greenery, fruits, and floral decorations. The dancers appear to be approaching four bound wands. Interpretation

This is an apropos card to come up during the holidays, as it has many of the meanings associated with this time of the year: gatherings, parties, observance of holidays, and festivities. This card can also refer to ceremonies and maintaining or expanding kinship through the building of communities.

While this is a social card, it is also a member of the Suit of Wands (which represents fire signs), so the social connections you make or nurture now have the potential to inspire imaginative conversations or possibly spark a creative venture. World News From the Future

When the Four of Wands is applied to world news, its imagery can indicate efforts to find harmony and peace through partnership. Its focus is on emphasising commonalities rather than differences. A ‘Four of Wands’ moment in the news would be when we see international groups or alliances of governments taking action towards a mutual goal. Even if there appear to be more differences than similarities on the surface, it is often possible to identify and build from a shared underlying principle. Those principles will be sought and can be meditated on and effectively talked about when you get this card after asking a question about global news.

This reconstruction will stem from a call for increased accountability and comes at just the time when new and improved organisations will need to be in place to manage climate-related disasters.

U.S. News From the Future

In U.S. news, this card signifies the growth of communities and increased support. Seeds will be planted soon for the building of interreligious alliances. While we can also expect religious conflict, watch for religious alliances, too. These alliances result in new types of buildings that house multiple religions, in addition to the continuance of traditional structures that are devoted to one religion (temples, churches, mosques, centres, etc.).

These interreligious structures will also be in a sort of square, almost like a…I hesitate to say it…shopping mall. Maybe more like an anti-shopping mall as the emphasis will be spiritual instead of material (not that I have anything against shopping malls!). I mention malls because some spaces that are now shopping malls will take on a new purpose as religious centres occupy more of those commercial spaces.

This development will happen as the need for increased security becomes apparent due to near-future threats to religious groups. While the incidents that lead to this shift in religious spaces will be upsetting, keep an eye out for the peacekeepers and fellowships, as there will be many.

Future News for You

This card can illustrate a period of taking refuge, being in a quieter setting, or generally seeking harmony in whatever way works best for you. Physically, it can be about a retreat into the home or finding a retreat from home. Overall, the Four of Wands encourages connections with the people, pets, or nature that bring you the most happiness and harmony.

This card can also be about celebrations and milestones. When reversed, the celebration is more personal and might not be shared. An example would be an achievement related to self-growth. This accomplishment could be that you feel you are attaining an increased sense of inner peace.

For some, this could be a time of transition or temporary upheaval. However, the Four of Wands still has positive connotations even when it is reversed, as your transformation will serve as an initiation into a more satisfying and beneficial way of life.

For those seeking synthesis and balance, the Reversed Four of Wands indicates that you have the coupling of capability and awareness to make that happen. You are on your way to restoring harmony in a part of your life where peacefulness may have been taken or hidden from you for some time. And that is something to celebrate.

Upright, the change you have achieved is something that can be recognised or shared. It encourages self-esteem as a partner to genuine humility.

Whether you draw this card in an upright or reserved position in your reading, it suggests a period of potential growth—whether internal, external, universal, or all of the above.
