The following extended article will cover the next two weeks of tarot predictions. Please excuse any typos. I’ve been sacrificing editing lately so I can continue writing articles while catching up on schoolwork. I would rather offer these posts imperfectly than not at all. This is progress for a recovering perfectionist! Maybe you can think of this as a channeled piece, Surrealist in its inattention to rewording. Perhaps I will become more detail-oriented once Mercury moves into Virgo. More on Mercury in Virgo and other astrology updates are detailed below in the following section: “Tarot-Astro Combo: Tarot Card Readings for Two Weeks of Astrology”.
Tarot Card of the Month: 7 of Cups Reversed
The 7 of Cups Reversed can come up in a card reading when someone is feeling overwhelmed by choices. See what can be eliminated from the available options, then revisit the remaining choices before making a decision. This card reminds me of the game show Let’s Make a Deal (1963-2003). Which door, which cup, would you choose? The aphorism “all that glitters is not gold” highlights the confusion that can happen when we make choices based on appearance rather than intuition. As such, this card suggests searching within rather than just looking at the options on paper before making a decision.
Viking Rune Stone of the Month: Eihwaz Reversed
This is a rune of timelessness, immortality, and far-reaching consequences. Reversed, this rune can denote grief or regret. It is not too late to act the way you wish you would have been before with others who are gone, and this can be done with the people you encounter today. Amended behaviour today offers a pathway to self-forgiveness for the past. By letting go of regret, it becomes possible to clear mental space which increases energy and motivation for taking better actions now.
A changed way of living can affirm that even though we might have done some things differently in the past if we knew then what we know now, we also wouldn’t be doing good deeds that are making up for those mistakes. As long as you are not in risk of burnout, helpfulness can be healing and transformative. If you do feel burned out, resting before engaging in acts of service can make you more effective once you are well enough to get involved with the world again by making amends or building new karmic energies as a spiritual investment in your future.

August 2022 Tarot Card: 7 of Cups Reversed
A figure marvels at 7 cups, each containing a different image. This person stands in a shadow while the cups are illuminated and held in the sky by a cloud. In this image, a choice has not yet been made. Each cup is filled with a dragon, wreath, cup of jewels, castle, snake, ghost, or person. Will the seeker choose a more spiritual or material item? Does the cup of achievement signified by a wreath matter, or is the spiritual or humanitarian cup more important? What of the snake and dragon—if chosen, could one or both of them bring harm or luck? The 7 of Cups is ruled by Neptune and connects to Pisces. Every sign comes with possible liabilities and for Pisces some of those are the risk of illusions, indecisiveness, and confusion.
August 2022 Viking Rune Stone: Eihwaz Reversed
This rune might mark a feeling of dissatisfaction after a change or loss has happened that is beyond one’s control. By following the heart instead of the mind at this time, a renewed motivation and better feelings can be achieved.
World News from the Future
In World News, 7 of Cups Reversed indicates a media-leaked revelation about transgressions or crimes that were committed years ago and covered up. Eihwaz Reversed expresses a hesitation on the part of some leaders and courts to take action that would result in reparations and justice, although public outcries will eventually demand justice for those who have been harmed.
When it comes time for accountability, as climate breakdown becomes more and more obvious and undeniable, those in power will step down and billionaires will be nowhere to be found. Some of those in power during a period of collapse will even go so far as to change their identities. Mansions of prominent leaders (such as Nancy Pelosi and possibly the DeVos family) could be stormed by masses who overtake their properties and turn them into shared spaces for the poor, although I don’t expect this to happen for years. The upcoming outrage will transcend party lines and targets will be those who have abused their power for personal gain. I don’t condone this, I am just extending tarot card, rune, and upcoming astrological readings into potential future news reports. While this trend will also be seen in Europe and Central and South America, attempts at overtaking properties in the United States will be met by draconian police forces followed by military troops wh will stoop to any measure in order to protect the property of the ultra-wealthy. Revolution is inevitable and will happen in multiple countries simultaneously. “Disruption” is the word I think of the most when I project my mind into the times I am describing. All of this is a product of potential climate collapse, but still can be avoided.
Transportation Revolution
We are on the verge of a worldwide revolution in transportation technology and methodology. In the U.S. in particular, the resistance to walkable cities and offering sufficient mass transit outside of cities has lagged. It’s almost impossible to survive or at least thrive in some of these cities, and especially outside of them, without a car. Sometimes the issue is safety, and at other times it’s a lack of efficient public transportation. In suburban and rural areas, busses in some regions stop running in the evening and throughout the night so it isn’t possible to work in the city and live outside of it without a car. I worked outside of a city where the busses stopped running at 6 pm which meant that I couldn’t get home after that time or work evening shifts. I had to move to the city. It was more expensive so I needed to add on evening shifts but at least I could get home at night by walking there which helped me save on bus fare. That was in the 2010s and I don’t know if public transportation outside of U.S. cities has improved since then. The notion that cars are necessary for work or as a status symbol will need to change in every city across the world for the sake of our collective well-being. Given the choice between the collapse of civilisation and more public transportation, I’d gladly take the latter (and already do).
Future World News Trends
Vietnam has been on my mind a lot lately. I think there will be news about that region, in addition to Thailand, that offers new information about the climate emergency.
According to my interpretations of card combinations that have been showing up in readings lately, far-right and far-left regimes will become more frequently present as countries adapt to changing climate and environmental conditions. A focus on survival tends to fuel extreme political movements: the more extreme the circumstances, the more extreme political and religious movements that are borne of those conditions tend to become.
This card also indicates a growing dissatisfaction with materialism. Public favour will increasingly turn to creating more walkable cities and better options for mass transportation. There will be many places that successfully actualise these plans, but some regions and countries will be averse to this idea as long as it cuts into automotive profit. Ironically, an economy built on climate and environmental preservation will end up being more lucrative in the long run than our current capitalist model. If the only point of capitalism is profit and it’s giving us the opposite of that, what is our system for anymore? Perhaps it’s never been more clear that we need a new system.
7 of Cups Reversed Themes in World News from the Future
This card points to a global awakening from deception and illusions. Upright, the 7 of Cups exhibits a general theme of denial. When it is reversed, it is a sign that humanity is waking up and facing reality, which is progress because now choices can be made about which actions to take and public opinion will be increasingly supportive of executing problem-solving measures. More specifically, near-future news will reflect an awakening of consciousness about the climate crisis.
U.S. News from the Future
The 7 of Cups Reversed in U.S. News establishes new information about masked leaders who are not what they appeared to be. Revelations in the form of written documents will be uploaded online, incriminating some of those who hoped to obtain power in upcoming 2022 midterm and 2024 Presidential elections.
There is a detail related to injustice and discrimination that is tied to the significance of these letters or documents. It has to do with attempts to keep people in poverty so that a few can stay in power. Economic justice, equality, and equity allow more people to become empowered and have a voice. By keeping most of the population in poverty, the myth of “laziness” is weaponised. Those who don’t make much money are busy working long hours at multiple jobs or seeking more work. How can someone who is working unreasonable hours or just as many hours in looking for work find the time to protest unfair conditions without jeopardising their survival? Another motive to keep people poor is that if too many prosper, there won’t be enough young people willing to risk their lives and limbs as soldiers for the war machine in exchange for comparatively paltry compensation or a chance to attend higher education.
A lack of financial justice is at the core of racism and misogyny. We already know this is happening but once these notes, possibly from Congresspeople, are released, their “plans” for preventing women, young people, prisoners, and BIPOC individuals from having the same opportunities will be out in the open and undeniable. There might be part of these plans that suggest a further erosion of civil rights. Part of the power of the 7 of Cups Reversed is that the fake façades can no longer hold, the masks come off, and there is no denying the discrimination that used to be either dismissed or justified by making dishonest excuses. These leaks could also be in the form of texts, as it looks like people in the higher ranks of political power will be exposed in more than one way.
The Rise and Collapse of the Billionaire Press
The disruptive phenomenon we are witnessing is the world turning upside-down, a rejection of the notion of “class”, and a mass awakening to a new way of life. I see the collapse of one way of life and the building of another, with both happening simultaneously and in different parts of the world. It’s almost like previous centuries are being played out as there might be a return to a more simple way of life that fosters enhanced human connection. Capitalism has been propagandised as the most logical solution to societal problems, yet it has become the opposite in its later stages as it prepares to die off. This ending of an economic system means the loss of power for those who hold the most right now, which is why we’ve been bombarded with decades of relentless brainwashing, both through advertising and mainstream neoliberal and neoconservative news outlets.
A lot of these mainstream news programmes have been scripted theatre, dramas, and storytelling posing as “reliable sources” of education and information. These trusted, persuasive figures are essentially actors cast by production companies to speak in a hypnotic, self-assured dialect that’s distinctly particular to newscasting and isn’t used in real life. While billionaire-funded news programmes touting the supposed benefits of a capitalist economic system appear to be objective, they are mostly corporate-funded advertisements disguised as purportedly educational sources of information. Most people have woken up to this charade. To learn the truth, seek out scholarly primary sources in the area you want to investigate. It is worth taking the time to read the original source if it is accessible. Academic papers are held to a higher standard than large corporations, the latter of which are not subject to ethics committees and systems of accountability. While there are neoliberal tendencies in academia, it operates within a system that leaves space for multiple principles (such as service to the academic community and enrichment of society) and therefore has more freedom of exploration than a corporation whose sole objective is yielding profits.
We are told by pundits and newscasters actors to vote our way into a change, but has voting alone ever been enough? Voting is the bare minimum and while it is critical, saying that’s all we can do is damaging because it gives us permission to avert further actions that will be necessary for our survival. In the U.S., relying on a majority in Congress isn’t going to be enough. If someone says, “All we can do is vote”, that phrase can sometimes be translated to, “All I’m going to do is vote”. Voting isn’t the end of what needs to be done in order to establish or maintain a participatory democracy, especially when there has been a history of corruption which was first egregiously demonstrated with the 2000 Gore-Bush Presidential elections and the fact that state-based nepotism administered by one governor in Florida alone was allowed to prevail over the popular vote. Exclusion of all other solutions beyond voting ensures that a minority intent on capturing more power will eventually attempt take away the right to vote, too.
I don’t believe this attitude of either voting or not voting is intentionally ineffective, but it’s a simplistic, binary way of cognitively diluting a complicated system and we have been trained in binary, either/or debates by decades of watching news programme punditry. Binaries are also time-wasters that repeat the obvious which takes up airtime and our time that could be used for learning about and taking more effective actions to solve political and social problems. Leading up to the 2016 Presidential elections, I noticed news programme debates that were increasingly divisive and reflective of competitive capitalist values. Capitalist “debates” are more like two competing advertisements to gauge which fixed point of view “wins” in the court of popular opinion, but not in the realm of actual facts. Viewers of pundit-cast debates could place themselves on one side of an issue or the other and therefore feel like they were participating in a democracy which promoted viewership that translated into more capital. Capitialism only exists by virtue of competing against other businesses to make more profit than them, and some mainstream, corporate-funded news programmes have encouraged this kind of competition in the conversations that accompany our own relationships. Debate is healthy and respectful arguments can yield educational value, but true debate leaves space for changing, learning, and admitting when one is wrong. When has that metaomrphosis happened in recent political debates? Too much money riding on their candidacy to admit one is wrong, which is another of many reasons that money needs to get out of politics.
While one of these binary points of view espouses values of the U.S. Democratic Party, this party in its current form would be considered one of the most conservative parties in Europe, Canada, and elsewhere. This party has clearly been moving further to the right to stay in a relationship with the Republican Party (“I’ll move wherever you go, honey!”), once younger candidates are elected it will move sharply to the left in order to compete with an emerging third party, which will be socialist, inspired by politicians like Senator Bernie Sanders, and focused on redistribution of wealth. Along these lines, as capitalism weakens in power and popularity, news shows will reflect this shift to a less competitive and more cooperative world.
A Revolution in Religion
How do you think people will react to an experiential understanding of irreversible warming or reaching a climate and environmental tipping point? We aren’t used to a hostile climate that is beyond our control. The myth of human superiority over one’s environment is about to be challenged and with it, religious systems that rely on hierarchy will fall or be reshaped. That will also change the way we treat animals. The breakdown of this myth is why Nationalist Christianity in America is attempting to control the federal government and anyone who doesn’t believe in their organisation. This political movement is more of a party that is right of some Republicans than it is religious, and it only exists and spreads by virtue of promising a hierarchical paradigm in which someone is finally given the opportunity to “climb a ladder” and feel important in a society that treats them as insignificant. If right-wing inclinations that have been growing since Reagan’ was elected in 1980 had made concessions for people in poverty and hadn’t ignored the poor and dismissed the working class for decades, I doubt this movement would have taken hold and grown in popularity as it has. People need purpose, love, and to feel important. Religions that promise two or three of those will have a wider appeal to human consciousness.
Evangelical Christianity in America mirrors the nationalist state, in that it sets itself up to be superior to other religions. Christian nationalism exists to support the military-industrial complex. I don’t think this is true of every Christian religion and I know that there are sincere believers in other sects of Christianity. For the purpose of this section and future articles, when I refer to “Christian nationalism” I am focusing on Christian leaders and groups whose doctrines support and spread nationalist, fascist beliefs. Fascism represents an extreme form of nationalism. According to the McGill University website, fascism can be defined as the following:
Fascism ( IPA: [ˈfæʃɪzm]) is a radical political ideology that combines elements of corporatism, authoritarianism, nationalism, militarism, anti-liberalism and anti-communism.
Christian nationalists practise corpratism in the way they run their religious business, authoritarianism in their call to relinquish human, educational, LGBTQ2S+, and women’s rights, anti-liberalism, and anti-communism. Every fascist movement requires a scapegoat to make itself seem relevant, because the truth is that fascism is never necessary, it always destroys everyone including their own leaders, and these movements don’t last long. Despite being proven throughout the twentieth century to have failed spectacularly again and again, here we go again because a fascists see a chance to experience a misuse of power for a few years before the public invariably turns on them. Fascist leaders end up losing everything they thought they’d gained and end up worse off than before they rose to power. Will they ever learn? This is one of many reasons why fascists ban books and censor history education.
The weaker the movement and the less convincing the theory, the more groups that movement will tend to scapegoat. Nationalism is closely linked to and relies on militarism to maintain power through suppression. Therefore, Christian nationalists in America are not just moving towards fascism; according to this definition, they are already taking the textbook actions of full-fledged fascists. If political ideologies exist on a spectrum, Communism is on the far left while Fascism occupies (sorry for the pun) the far right. The fascism we are currently experiencing has its unique challenges in that it is overlapping with late-stage capitalism and a climate crisis. Conservatism is on the right of Liberalism and to the left of Fascism. There is a space for Socialism between Communism and Liberalism. The Democratic Socialism that currently primarily exists in parts of Europe and South America combines fiscal collectivity with participatory democracy. Communism is on the other end of the spectrum to fascism but the one thing they share is control. Can there be a Communist state that engages as successfully in participatory democracy as some Democratic Socialist states? Previous Communist states have repressed freedom which is the opposite of collectivity. There will always be people willing to fill positions of power if they are allowed to so perhaps there will be a new movement in the future, a different version of Socialism that adapts to a changing climate. Communism is growing in popularity in the United States as a reaction to encroaching fascism and decades of stagnant wages and losses of social programmes, but there is a caution to not give power over to dictators or groups of authoritarians in Communist movements, no matter how trustworthy they may seem. Excessive power is an invitation to corruption that fosters revolution.
The Related Roles of Religion and Education in Advancing or Dismantling Fascism
Fascism and Education
I initially learned about the differences in the spectrum of political ideologies from my high school speech and debate teacher who encouraged us to utilise the spoken word as a conduit to enacting political change. He was an Auschwitz survivor who was separated from and lost both his parents and family to Nazi killing centres where he lived for years. The blue tattooed number forcibly embedded onto his body as a young boy by Nazi criminals continued to be prominently visible on his forearm. He experienced the horrors of fascism firsthand and emphasised its origins in nationalism. It was an honour to learn about the history of political ideology from him, to attend a public school where other Holocaust survivors were invited to speak every year, and to participate in a theatre department that raised Holocaust awareness with historical productions such as Arthur Miller’s Playing for Time. It is imperative that education about genocide is never suppressed, which is why the right-wing push for outlawing school discussions about slavery and genocidal history, criminialising LGBTQ2S+ culture, and forcing teachers to present “both sides” of the Holocaust by excusing the behaviour of dictators and mass murderers is harmful, dangerous, and exposes the most vulnerable groups to increased violence.
Fascists can’t rise to power amidst a population that is educated in critical thinking. Removing the value of questioning from education enables fascist dictatorships to gain power, so this is all part of a plan to take over by 1) installing a theocratic majority in the supreme court and 2) attempting to inevitably install a dictatorship via 2024 elections. Theocracies rooted in religions that require blind faith will use a belief system that claims people are powerless to hypnotise that same populace into political submission. Unquestioning obedience is necessary for authoritarian regimes to take hold. Those who continue to think for themselves are imprisoned or repressed by military forces in addition to uniformed and secret police. Questioning and joking blows the cover of the ridiculousness of fascist ideology, which is why educators, comedians, artists, intellectuals, and individuals on the margins of society who offer an alternative cultural perspective are usually the first to be attacked and imprisoned under fascist regimes. One of the first stages of installing a theocratic dictatorship is by subverting critical thinking in education.
Fascism and Religion
On the topic of Christofascism, proselytising is a form of exerting authority and claiming superiority over all other belief systems. If your religion is supposedly the best, why are you the ones constantly advertising, whereas other religions don’t? What is the point of fearmongering about the purported existence of hell unless you are using it to scare people into joining your organisation so they can keep those at the top of the power structure in business? There are many religions that don’t proselytise and also don’t believe in “hell”. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes in hell, but they, too, are an American religion known for door-to-door proselytising. Christofascism is a clever pyramid scheme because their organisation doesn’t have to show you any results since the rewards are in the afterlife. The second you find out whether there is a heaven, hell, or purgatory is the same second when you become unable to do so. It’s a clever marketing scheme that’s been playing the rounds in various forms since the Middle Ages as deceptive and immoral as church leaders claim their opponents are, which is a form of anticipatory projection. I think of anticipatory projection as a manipulative debate tactic in which the initiator projects one’s own flaws onto potential critics to control and subvert resistance.
I rarely had a day of leaving my home in the United States without being told by strangers that I should convert to evangelical Christianity, whether that was being proselytised on the street while walking to the bus, attempting to shop for shoes at a mall, or being approached on university campuses by someone fondling their necklace cross while asking if they can pray for my soul to be saved when I was just trying to get to my next class. I’ve been in Canada for four years and no one has tried to proselytise evangelical Christianity to me or tell me I need Jesus if I want to be “saved” (I don’t, so let’s save both of us...some time!). Perhaps it is different in other parts of Canada, as I’m just speaking of my experience in B.C. I believe a lack of access to U.S. healthcare combined with the desperation of widespread poverty has made people susceptible to religions that promise faith healing and prosperity.
Where else can someone turn to but God when there is limited or no accessibility to a doctor or the social or financial means necessary to gain access to a healthcare system? I coud be mistaken but I haven’t seen as prominent of an evangelical Christian movement in countries where there are systems of social support and universal healthcare. Each region has its own culture and history so the following prediction isn’t going to pan out in the same way in every case. However, as a few nations are persuaded to go the way of the U.S. by increasingly privatising healthcare, I believe we can expect to see a rise in cults that proselytise to people who are trapped in seemingly inescapable circumstances of poverty, hunger, illness, and houselessness. The less help that is available, the more people become vulnerable to opportunistic predators.
Returning to the topic of hierarchy, these times will bring about more equality and equity amongst humanity and also our environment. I believe we will be humbled by the forces of nature. I wrote about the Elizabethan Chain of Being in connection to the climate crisis predictions in a post from June 2018. This theory espoused a Renaissance worldview that kings inherit a position by birthright that is one step below God, therefore they were expected to act on behalf of God on Earth. Additionally, this concept places royalty above peasants and while humans are positioned as superior animal and plant “kingdoms”. Sometimes I wonder if this outdated worldview is the origin of leader-worship and disproportionate sycophancy that we still see today, in which those who have the most power are treated as if they are closer to God and therefore shouldn’t be criticised. Actually, criticism and holding someone to account makes them better and no one is inferior or superior to another person. Like the 7 of Cups, hierarchy an illusory theory that was invented by humans. Like capitalism, hierarchical systems can be dismantled just as they were created.
Revolution
The idea of royalty as deserving of privilege beyond that of other humans will continue to be more challenged. Upper-class social standing is going out of style. Once royal figures are not considered to be more than a hereditary anomaly with a heritage that is as meaningful as anyone else’s, the acquisition of excessive wealth itself will be called into question. Furthermore, the upcoming rejection of presumed royal, billionaire, and celebrity superiority will bring about resistance to religious systems that have built their structure on a similarly hierarchical binary model of “inferiority versus superiority”. The notion that beings can be defined as “better” or “less than” keeps the powerful in power and justifies one’s place in a privileged position. Those days will soon be gone.
This revolution in social roles has a higher purpose, in addition to reducing human and all animal suffering: by admitting we are not of a higher rank to our environment, we will replace old models with new belief systems that consciously support other beings instead of a class-driven, economically stratified culture. Indigenous cultures already honour life as sacred and have lived in reverence of life and the Earth since time immemorial. Everything we need to know can be learned by giving support and agency to the very people who have been subjected to genocide by an inherently unequal, inequitable, patriarchal system. We rely on and need our delicate ecosystem and have been blessed with miraculous balance for hundreds of thousands of years. Why not do everything we can and give all we’ve got to maintain the most beautiful and unreproducible thing we and all of our ancestors have ever known?
Climate Update: Senate Climate Bill
This week, a bipartisan Senate bill introduced a commitment to the most spending on our climate in U.S. history. While that sounds like a lot, it’s a minuscule offering when considering the scale and urgency of the emergency. There is no compromising with Nature, and the Earth is neither a capitalist ally, nor a business competitor, nor exploited servant; yet she has erroneously and foolishly being treated as all three at various times throughout post-migration history. The $369 billion proposal over ten years equals $36.9 billion dollars per year, which is still only 4.6% of the U.S. military budget. While there are good actions in the bill, the part about carbon offsets is not helpful and distracts from other critically needed, competent solutions. Carbon offsets are a greenwashing scam that absolves corporations of their responsibility to stop producing the harmful greenhouse gas emissions that are destroying our climate. The myth of carbon offset effectivity is capitalist propaganda that exacerbate climate breakdown by preventing actual solutions. We only have so much time so any stalling is a crime.
Another part of this bill that is problematic is probably generated by a bipartisan concession. If I’m understanding it correctly, this aspect of the proposal is a budget for subsidising fossil fuel production. Granting more fossil fuel subsidies instead of implementing taxation and penalties would be disastrous and the exact opposite of the direction this planet needs. While this bill a start that brings attention to the importance of this crisis, and better than not making any progress on climate issues, if it passes there will need to be a lot more funding than this to prevent partial or full civilisational collapse. Based on the extreme weather changes of 2022, I don’t see how we will have ten years to avert a tipping point, and tipping points mean that a situation spirals beyond human control in which case we start to defend ourselves from a hostile climate rather than being supported by it. How can our species tolerate more warming than where we already are as of this summer? How much more dire does this situation have to become in order for our systems of governance to take it seriously as the top priority it should be? A lot more needs to be done, even by 2023. Some of the predictions that were made for the end of the century will be happening in the 2020s. There has never been a more “penny wise, pound foolish” farce than the way this crisis is being handled by most governments. The price we could potentially pay for the negligence of emissions polluters and the systems that have enabled them is everything. There’s never been a greater cost than paying with everything to end up with nothing. Capitalism in its extreme form is a failed ideology in practise. The good news is that can change and we can create a different outcome together with the implementation of a new system built on more compassionate and humane theories.
It doesn’t make sense not to put everything we can into the one thing we need to have all other things. We need a stable climate for everything else so this is the biggest issue we face. Every budget needs to prioritise its top crisis, otherwise what are we budgeting for? Even a pandemic or overlapping pandemics are small in comparison to increased wildfires that burn ancient buildings and trees that are irreplaceable, not to mention the lives and well-being of those who are forced to escape floods, fires, and other disasters. Part of what we are trying to prevent is an increase in heat that makes regions uninhabitable in the summer, then spring, then fall, then winter. I am slightly ahead on the timetable because of extreme heat and sun reactions which have given me insight into where most of us are headed. As of 2022, I am already down to just a few countries in the world where I will be able to manage in future summers, and within those countries there are a limited number of cities where I could live. None of those locations are in the United States. That list was longer last summer and in every previous year. Maybe you have noticed this same shift in your own country, state, province, territory, city, or town.
What these hotter seasons mean is that most of the world is not far behind from being limited as to where they can work and survive. If enough is not done soon, and I mean very soon, it is likely that the majority of people will be catapulted into a critical phase of survival due to climate catastrophe. Some news outlets and leaders will try to blame other issues for this migration but those problems will be mostly if not entirely secondary to the climate emergency. The notion of that many people facing danger is bleak but realistically not outside the realm of possibility—for any of us—if fossil fuels are allowed to continue burning. Reality needs to be faced without illusions (7 of Cups Reversed) if lives are going to be saved. Extreme, imminent measures are required for arresting or slowing down extreme, imminent problems. Compromise in the midst of an emergency is another form of denial. Would you negotiate with a fire that is burning down your house? It would just continue to burn, unabated, and you’d lose everything in it while arguing with a force you can’t control. Only water would help, but negotiating with and subsidising the fossil fuel industry is like giving money to a group of arsonists who burned down your other homes when you could be funding actual firefighters instead. Funding the industry that’s been actively, knowingly, and therefore insidiously destroying our future is the height of absurdity. The more we act, the sooner the fossil fuel industry ends and agriculture is revolutionised, and the fewer who will have to suffer.
Fossil fuel emissions are the most significant problem and another issue is agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. There will have to be a revolution in food production and that will happen whether we seek it out or not. A near-future crop shortage highlights the necessity of reducing agricultural pollution which will force us into adapting to a different way of farming. With Uranus in Taurus, there will be many creative solutions.
The History and Future of Humanity: Even One Wonder Would Be Worth Saving
Too many times throughout the history of humanity, we have waited until it is almost too late to administer solutions to problems. During previous instances, we had the luxury of not dealing with the additional threat of irreversibility. The climate crisis is so much bigger and encompasses everything. There is no comparison, therefore we cannot afford to wait until the last minute as we did in the past. As it is, climate conditions are progressively worsening. History won’t show us exactly what to do right now, despite all the other lessons we can learn about politics and other related subjects that can help us navigate issues that are secondary to the climate crisis. Basically, there is no exact precedent and we are navigating unknown territory. It’s almost like being on another planet, one not quite the same as what we’ve known.
We’re in a different place and this planet has changed, but many don’t realise that yet because mainstream media funded by billionaires who profit off our illusions and complacency has lied to us for decades about what is really happening. News shows present an edited, biased version of reality that discourages any actions that threaten the existing conditions of a capitalist system. The positive part of our current period is the emergence of social media which has increased accessibility for independent media producers. Technology is a double-edged sword, and as much as social media has generated exposure to the troubled parts of society, it has also offered access to information, ideas, and connections that we didn’t have before—and which we need exactly now. Some online spaces are more helpful than others and I haven’t found a platform with more activist activity than Twitter, at least so far (comment below if you know of one!), but undoubtedly more will be developed in time. Substantially, since no one human force has all the answers to this problem, we have to rely on the best available science and do everything collectively and physically possible to anticipate and impede further disasters. There can be no half-measures when literally everything is at stake.
This proposed climate bill, while better than what we had before which was no bill at all, is less than a half-measure. Under the circumstances it should have allocated trillions, not billions. In 2019, Senator Bernie Sanders proposed a $16.3 trillion dollar climate plan. Imagine a world where this had been our budget three years ago, in which we would have experienced fewer wildfires, flooding disasters, heatwaves, and lives lost. The rise in global warming and Arctic thawing could have slowed down if one of the nations that produces the most pollution on the planet had taken this more seriously, and sooner. COVID-19 is important but locked-in temperature rise is forever—at least for our lifetimes and many lives to come. Blaming Trump or Biden doesn’t help, because focusing on one personality adds up to a time-wasting distraction and we don’t have any time to spare. Also, removing one person from power creates an illusion (7 of Cups) that we can stop fighting for justice once their reign is done. The enemy is a system that thrives on harmful behaviour and prevents beneficial reactions: a recipe for destruction if I’ve ever heard of one. The reasons as to why the 2022 proposal of $369 billion could not be negotiated to a higher rate isn’t going to change the fact that it won’t be effective enough in the time we have.
This summer will be looked back on by future independent media and theorists as a missed opportunity to do even more and thus avert a worse crisis. We will say that more should have been done by politicians. But our leaders aren’t coming to save us. They’re tied to the system, and while some of them will make concessions from time to time those offerings won’t add up to what we need. The clock of tipping points is ticking away all the time. It is like we are on another Doomsday Clock that estimates the likelihood of nuclear war—how close are we to midnight when it comes to the climate crisis? We do not even know for sure. The cards can only tell so much and predictive dreams don’t reveal the entirety of our future human story.
Since the majority of our leaders are limited in either the ability or willingness to take sufficient actions or make this climate emergency the priority above all other issues that it should be, most of us will have to get involved, even if that isn’t fair. Most of those who have been hired to problem-solve are leaving the biggest problem in the history of human existence to volunteers, including climate scientists, who need to take time off of work to communicate the urgency of this crisis to the public and engage in “civil disobedience against criminal governments”. That’s no mistake—it’s a glitch in the system. Having very few people with an inordinate amount of power isn’t working anymore. Many of these leaders probably don’t like the stress and responsibility that comes with their work. Pluto in Aquarius willb bring about a time when more people will lead together, rather than looking to figureheads for answers and giving them more work than any one human should have to handle. If you haven’t already, you can follow @ScientistRebel1 on Twitter for more about the Scientist Rebellion.
The fact that this bill falls short of what is needed doesn’t mean to give up hope. On the contrary, this is a sign that public consciousness has turned to taking this crisis more seriously. It gives us a point of reference to build on which makes it easier to demand more. Regardless, a caution of the 7 of Cups is that when we see some action, that is not an excuse to stop fighting for an even better world. Upright, this card reminds us not to be taken hostage by external illusions propagated by attempts at brainwashing, greenwashing, or our own internal deceptions. We can’t get lulled into complacency when this bill doesn’t do enough in time. It will always be worth fighting for a better world no matter what we currently experience. As living beings, we have been bestowed with the inherited privilege of existence, and therefore carry a moral obligation to protect and pay forward what we’ve been given to future species. Action will make things better than they would have been without action, and we have an opportunity every day to contribute to ensuring the best possible outcome.
This is a tiny step in the direction of progress. Nothing is more important than climate and environmental preservation because this is the foundation that makes all other things possible. If we don’t treat someone well they will eventually fight back, and the same is true for our planet. While it is only a few who have caused this, it will take most of the rest of us to fix it and that’s just how it’s going to be for reasons we don’t yet know. However, engaging in consistent, productive climate action over a sustained period of time will be worth the journey, and if we do this successfully the end results will be potentially transcendent beyond our wildest dreams. As long as the fossil fuel industry ends, we stand a chance to save what we have from this point on. And the world still holds most of its awe-inspiringly wonderful and beautiful splendours, even one of which would be worthy of making every effort to save with all we have to give.
7 of Cups Reversed Themes in US News from the Future
False spiritual leaders are more likely to be exposed now. Observe a rise of extremist gurus with political and personal rather than spiritual and universal motives. If a religious group is not genuine and/or takes advantage of others for personal gain, they will be found out in the end and their following and movement will fall apart. When someone is truly trying to help their good intentions will become clear in time.

Trending Today in Astrology History: Uranus, Mars, and North Node Triple Conjunction in Taurus
Beginning today and into tomorrow, a rare connection is happening when Uranus, Mars, and the North Node begin to experience a Triple Conjunction at 18 degrees in Taurus. In general, powerful (Mars) climate (Taurus) activism (Uranus) is destined (North Node) to be possible now. A desire for freedom and the presence of heightened rebelliousness are activated by these congruent placements, and it’s all centered around themes of Taurus. Taurus rules the material world and changes brought about by Uranus and Mars can be translated to a shift in physical space, possibly even maps. This is also about property, property value, possessions, and questioning the meaning of ownership. This could also refer to the property crisis in China and subsequent ripple effects. Some of the headlines in near-future news look like they feature the words “shock” and “sticker price” but I don’t know the specific details and I am not a financial advisor so please consult with your financial and real estate experts.* Other near-future shifts include proposed borders changes. This move could start to become apparent when Venus, Mercury, and the Sun move into Sagittarius in November, followed by a New Moon in Sagittarius on November 23rd.
Back to the present time, we are literally being prompted to act by matters that occur in and around this Taurean Conjunction. Expect the unexpected, including bold, forward-thinking, unusual, surprising, and sometimes aggressive methods of effecting change. A conjunction like this signifies an electrifying time and literally could mean the collapse of a power grid or even mass electrical outages. Alternatively, the conjunction might manifest as electrical disruptions resulting from flooding or fires. In some cases, there could be cunning acts of aggression or war such as withholding food staples or attacking a power structure. This conjunction is like a thunderstorm that happens in multiple parts of the world at once, waking us up to the need for radical transformation as part of a collective higher purpose. The signs couldn’t be clearer, and this conjunction tells us so specifically in its planets and signs, as the climate and environment are ruled by Taurus, and demands for change are associated with Mars. When Mars and Uranus get together, expect an unprecedented, explosive shock. According to Taurus, this situation will involve the land and environment.
On another note, Mars is in its detriment in Taurus and sometimes emphasises a lack of effective leadership or even passivity in the face of a crisis that impels a call for expansion of access to preventative measures for impending illnesses. For instance, there could be a rapid spread of a disease under these conditions, which could instigate an increased health measures. The application of solutions to these potentially overlapping crises could be stalled when Uranus goes into Retrograde on August 24th. When Uranus goes Direct again on January 22nd, 2023, a relief is in sight and in reality, which is further helped by the technologically transformative, scientifically innovative, and humanitarian advances made possible by a Pluto move into Aquarius for the first time since the Enlightenment in March 2023.
If enough people demand changes and take actions that combat the climate crisis during this narrow window of possibility that happens to overlap with our lifetimes, astrology predicts a possible timeline where we can look forward to experiencing a Neo-Enlightenment in space exploration along with a worldwide revolution that culminates in the charting of new Constitutions. These documents would support the formation of new and radically revised governments that are mostly comprised of younger people and will materialise more quickly than ever before. Furthermore, when the Libran and Leonine conditions are right, and if the fossil fuel industry is set to rest before critical tipping points are reached, a Neo-Renaissance might be in the cards. But there is much work to be done before any of this can happen.
As of now, Mars might accompany volatile and explosive events, and the “where” of this event (and possibly series of events) is answered by Taurus: in the body of the Earth, possibly some of our own bodies which will sense this change, and likely arising from the Earth itself. This Mars-Uranus-North Node Conjunction could intensify the threat of nuclear war which means near-future news might administer a high level of alert. I don’t know why but see the U.S. administration accidentally exacerbating tensions, possibly in a demonstration of power or as a counterreaction to a threat. I see this being considered by politicians in both U.S. and Russia from an economic rather than humanitarian perspective: in other words, it will look like they are trying to save money more than lives. When I attempt to observe the situation objectively while under self-hypnosis, it’s almost like Germany (ruled by Taurus) is involved as an intermediary between two countries. Is there something about this government’s financial involvement with Russia that could destabilise their economy? It’s not clear as to why, I’m just seeing a triumvirate of Germany in the middle of Russia and the United States and a tension that grows as the German government is caught in the middle of an unwanted dilemma and needs to make a decision. It seems to have something to do with a financial crisis, Germany siding with and needing to rely on something from the United States, and how this alliance somehow triggers Russia. I can’t say I understand it, I’m just seeing these countries in a vision as if each of them is a character in a play, arguing. It looks like U.S. involvement in the Ukraine war will increase as other countries in Eastern Europe get more involved and of course Putin perceives this as a threat. I don’t know what happens next and I haven’t asked the cards yet. I don’t like sharing predictions like these, but like the 7 of Cups teaches us, there needs to be a balance between facing reality and living in fantasy, especially in times of crisis. Another lesson of this card, whether Upright (warnings) or Reversed (awareness), is that it is better to be warned than unaware. As the old proverb goes, “forewarned is forearmed”—just hopefully not nuclear armed.
Venus in Cancer during the first week and a half of August will bring nurturing along the way while we witness a major metamorphosis. One event seems to lead to another in a cascading domino effect that would feel more overwhelming if we weren’t aware of why it was happening. What we are seeing is the metaphorical shedding of the skin of a snake like the one in the 7 of Cups, and that snake is the old system that no longer works for nearly any of us. Mars is ruled by the scorpion, which embodies danger but also represents revision, renewal, and revolution. The image I see associated with the Mars-related aspect of this conjunction is thunder, lightning, sea rise, and flooding. The other side of this image is offered by Uranus: adaptation, inventions, new information, interconnection, radical action, and the upending and rejection of outdated structures. This reminds me of Greta Thunberg’s prediction during her speech at the U.N. Climate Action Summit on 23 September 2019:
“The world is waking up. And change is coming, whether you like it or not”.
We are now seeing the world waking up, and also changing through climate events, whether we like it or not. Greta’s prediction from 2019 is already coming to pass.
Astrologically, an uprising in reaction to this upcoming event is possible at this time, especially in cities or countries ruled by Taurus or with Taurus prominently in their charts. While France is ruled by Libra, both Libra and Taurus are associated with Venus so expect big news from France, which will be simultaneously challenging and progressive. Further into the future, this could be related to a television station run by workers of the world instead of corporations. Will this bring a new version of old revolutions? An unusual food (Uranus in Taurus) and water (Neptune in Pisces) crisis could bring revolution in some regions. The sooner we act, the more we can save. Expect signs generated by the Earth to get more serious and obvious in order to remind us that there is no time to waste. There’s no reason to be scared, as these messages are like broadcasts, prompting us to act. The power of Mars partly rests in its courage and the energy of Scorpio infuses us with bravery. Those with Mars in Scorpio used to be positioned on the front lines of battle because of their perceived courage. Nature communicates in physical, tactile, and experiential ways, and so does Taurus. Relationships and connections are in the process of significantly growing and improving amongst humanity even if it initially looks like the contrary. The connections we’re about to experience with all of humanity will be incredible and surprising.
Another important message that we can gain from this triple conjunction is that what we are about to see is not the end of the world, but a calling to a new world. The North Node carries a positive message here: if enough people respond to this upcoming occurrence in August, we will do a lot more that can prevent other, bigger events in the future. Expect this shift to provide an undeniably clear call to action. Shocks and collisions can propel those who are ready into an unplanned opportunity for quickened spiritual advancement that forever enhances future emotional experiences.
At the same time, there will be a new relationship to the availability of comfort, security, and outdoor activities. Mercury in Virgo will help bring solutions that make this time more manageable. On August 20th, Mars moves into Gemini which is a more comfortable position for this planet than Taurus. During Mars in Gemini, there will be a lot of talk about how to manage and abate international conflict, whether that is regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine or the climate crisis. Additionally, there could be unprecedented financial and banking changes due to the volatile conjunction between Uranus and Mars in Taurus.* If you have a prominent placement in Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius, or Aries, you might feel a particular kinship with this shift that has the potential to revolutionise your relationship with food, land, security, animals, or resources. Considering that Taurus rules the neck and shoulders, it’s best to be extra cautious and gentle with those areas right now. You also might feel especially inspired by flashes of brilliance during this conjunction.
Aug 4 Mercury enters Virgo
Virgo is ruled by Mercury, making this an exalted position. This is a time when getting clear on details of schedules becomes more likely. This position is associated with logic, analysis, clarity of thought, and critical thinking. Service-oriented professions and volunteer work can yield various kinds of benefits during this period, especially for Virgos, those with Mercury in Virgo, Earth Signs Taurus and Capricorn, and possibly Air Sign Gemini. For everyone, this is a time when you can access empowerment through personal resourcefulness, an application of determination, and the hypnotic influence of cognitive manifestation.
When Pluto moves into Capricorn on October 8th, there will be signs of the public applying increasing pressure on corporations. Based on Mercury in Virgo, part of the motivation for upcoming demands is a desire to cut back on administrative healthcare expenditures, as well as overall excess spending on corporate and governmental bureaucracy. A call for more accountability of large institutions is on the rise. For Capricorns, Pluto in Capricorn combined with Mercury in Virgo can mean the acquisition or rediscovery of a deep ability to utilise organisational skills, career goals, or personal plans.

Aug 5 First Quarter Moon 13 Sco 02'
A first quarter Moon in Scorpio denotes the initiation of incisive thinking, profound investigations, research, and connecting or reconnecting with a subject you’re passionate about studying. These explorations will be more driven by emotions than deduction, although a concurrent phenomenon of Mercury in Virgo could infuse some needed logic into intellectual pursuits.
During this New Moon, watch for the tendency to jump to conclusions, especially when joining emotional debates. Some of these conflicts can be averted by sources prior to sharing ideas, especially online. Intuition can be heightened right now, especially for Scorpio, anyone with a natal chart that includes Moon in Scorpio, and other Water Signs Cancer and Pisces.
Similarly, a First Quarter Moon 11 Sag 14' on September 3rd will bring emotional support to academic and philosophical endeavours that will especially be felt by educators, Sagittarians, those with Moon in Sagittarius, and Fire Signs Aries and Leo.
Aug 11 Venus enters Leo
Venus in Leo can denote a time of increased attention, expression, and validation. Venus is ruled by Libra and combined with the sign Leo, can generate a doubly creative time which is ideal for watching shows, getting involved in a craft or creative activity, or visiting museums. This is an artistic position that is also socially joyful, non-judgmental, and encouraging of the visual and performing arts. Some of the themes of this period are generosity and open expression of feelings, which might be felt strongly by Librans, Leos, those whose charts include Venus in Leo, and possibly to a lesser extent for Fire Signs Aries or Sagittarius.

Future Tarot News for You
The 7 of Cups can refer to decision-making. Upright, this card might denote illusions. Reversed, it can indicate an awakening from fantasy or denial. However, in the initial period following an awakening, there can be confusion due to the discomfort of the adjustment. You also might encounter uncertainty if you’re navigating a new experience as a result of this realisation. What is a solution to this unfamiliar feeling? If you find yourself in a position of not knowing what direction to take, sometimes meditation can help with getting attuned to the next choice you are being guided to that’s right for you. If you don’t get an answer to your question during or soon after the meditation, and as long as the situation doesn't require urgent decision-making, maybe the answer is no answer—at least for now.
Like the Blank Rune, sometimes the unknowable or mystery in the 7 of Cups Reversed is there for a higher purpose and to protect or help you in the future. The withholding of too much information before it would be beneficial to you could be a good thing. If something you are curious to know continues to be hidden from view, wait for the next clue to arise and continue with your personal spiritual practise until you are given the gift of upgraded clarity. For some signs, or for any sign under certain circumstances, Mercury in Virgo might engender more clarity, too. According to the 7 of Cups Reversed, Eihwaz Reversed (and the associated Blank Rune), more will be revealed when the time is right.
What to Look for From 7 of Cups Reversed
Clarity following confusion
Breaking free from an illusion
Relying on inner wisdom in making a choice
Looking within is advised by this card, as it is possible that not all external options are as they appear to be
What to Learn From 7 of Cups Reversed
Gratitude for the quality of certainty
Confidence
Getting grounded
Refocusing when the mind wanders
Rediscovering personal values

Dear Kyra,
I am crying as I read your interpretation for this first half of August. The 7 of cups reversed seems to be the energy that’s presenting itself to me in a rather overwhelming way.
I moved in with a flatmate that I had known since 2019, this past May. As the last three months progressed, I realized I’d made a choice based on appearances, rather than intuition, especially since she lives in a very beautiful apartment that gives, at first, very safe vibes.
My flatmate is a very lonely person, who has been vocal about having issues living with other people (only one person in the past two years has lasted six months while living with her, while most don’t last more than 1-2 months), as well as with securing work because of being middle-aged and an actress. While I am very good at setting healthy boundaries, I realized she kept overstepping them to the point that she created a complex plot in her head about me having a mental illness. If that wasn’t enough, she contacted one of my closest friends, with whom she has no relationship whatsoever, and shared that I probably need medication to treat this imaginary mental illness.
While I don’t like how the terms “narcissism” and “abuse” have become overly used in our Western societies, I can’t help but feel like I have attracted a mirror from the feeling of lacking something (out of desperate need for an apartment, after my housing fell through at the beginning of April).
As I have found out that my now ex-flatmate has behaved similarly with other previous flatmates (with the difference that she and I share the same social circles, unlike other flatmates), I am scared of her smearing me to my peers.
I’d like to ask you, Kyra, if there’s any ill intent coming from her towards me in the future, as I have already cut contact in every way possible.
Namaskar!
A U.S. News from the Future detail that I meant to add is the movement towards rolling back child labour laws to a younger age, lowering the minimum wage for younger workers, and a lowering of the legal age for child marriage without a requirement of parental or guardian consent (first in the South, then elsewhere). This prediction is based on the tarot card The Sun Reversed. While apparently temporary, these future circumstances instigate a demand by activists for lowering the voting age to 16, which will also happen. The lowering of the minimum age for voting would bring back children's rights.
