The card that I drew fortuitously represents elements of not only Jupiter but also Aries, and as it turns out, Jupiter is moving into Aries today. Tarot Card of the Week: Ace of Wands
The card I drew for this week is Ace of Wands, which features a hand emerging from a cloud and holding a wand. In the distance we see trees, hills, and possibly a castle. The cloud represents new creative ideas, spontaneity, and, in some cases, divine inspiration. The wand itself is a representation of fire signs in traditional tarot decks, and aces can mean beginnings or initiations.
Representations of nature in the midground followed by an estate in the background tells a story. I read cards as a narrative, sometimes starting with foreground and moving to the background, which is similar to learning a story through a painting. Conversely, you can read a tarot card story in reverse by starting in the background and moving to the foreground to gather information about the suggested sequence of events that are related to the image’s meaning. For example, the images in the foreground signify the fire of inspiration, and the hand emerging from the cloud is a human being who takes a hold of this idea and has the power to bring it into reality.
This new concept or strategy is supported by natural forces in the midground of the image, resulting in the culmnation of this story as a castle or mansion. Generally, and without taking surrounding cards in a potential tarot card spread into account, this project or creative idea has the potential to build physical security —if the querent is willing to persevere by taking a journey through the trees and hills until their goal is either reached or rewritten and revised along the way.
Creativity and goals were a theme in last week’s reading, but every card is different. Unlike The World and The Chariot, Ace of Wands is a Minor Arcana card so the effect and timespan of its influence is not as significant as a Major Arcana card. Also dissimilar to The World and The Chariot, Ace of Wands is not so much about movement and travel as it is about cognition and the reception of unique, possibly groundbreaking ideas.
Ace of Wands and Astrology
Jupiter moves into Aries this week, and this card supports a connection with that planet and sign. Jupiter rules fire sign Sagittarius and wands represent fire signs, including Aries. Aries is the first sign in the zodiac, and ace cards denote new beginnings. If your sun sign is a fire sign, particularly Sagittarius or Aries, or if you have prominent 1st or 9th house positions in your natal chart, you are especially likely to receive inspiration at this time.
World News from the Future
The Ace of Wands, when applied to world news, can mean a shift in how ideas are approached. Part of that approach will be fiscally oriented while the Sun remains in Taurus.
When applying current astrology to this card, fresh ideas about economic bartering and investments will become more prominent in this week’s news. As I stare at this card and let my eyes go unfocused, I am seeing the wand transform into a spiral going downward and instigating early stages of signs of global financial karma —and trauma.
I had a vision during meditation about Putin being poisoned but I envisioned this fallout as being hidden from the public for a time. Once his decline in health is revealed, there will be a shift and even domino effect in economic and especially stock market trends. The number 16 appears as a clue to this event, so it could be a revelation on the 16th of the month or something else related to the number 16 that ties to this prediction.*
This is a week when we will start to see signs of wealth-related karma about prominent figures in the news. Some of those who have been condescending to people living in poverty and judging them for their circumstances will stumble. In the future, these types will take an inevitable and unavoidable financial fall. The upcoming fall is more about “losing face” by being exposed in the news as having engaged in harmful and, in some cases, even abusive behaviour, particularly towards women and children. Some of this news will publish and publicise revelations about high-profile politicians with connections to Jeffrey Epstein and child sexual abuse. I see Ghislaine Maxwell as a prominent story in this week and next week’s news. Apparently, she will have revealed more information to the courts in the hope of making an exchange for a lighter sentence. Overall, if someone stepped on others to get ahead or rise the corporate ladder, this is not their best time.
Global financial karma also happens on a small scale in terms of those who have long lived in privilege suddenly having to face the possibility of scarcity. By doing so, they have the opportunity to awaken to the reality that if they didn’t cause these necessary cutbacks, maybe poverty isn’t the fault of those who have been underprivileged all along, either. No, not everyone will get this message, but those who are spiritually ready stand a chance to grow from this experience. What does “spiritually ready” mean? That might be a differnt answer for different people. In this case, some of the necessary qualities for being willingto learn from and accept material shifts will be humility, empathy, honesty, and self-reflection.
Many of those who are ready to learn financial lessons will be humbled by public revelations and also their own personal losses of resources due to world changes in 2022-2023. Karma isn’t meant to punish, though. I don’t see karma as a judgment of good or bad behaviour, it’s all neutral to karmic energy, kind of like experiences are neutral to the unconscious mind. Karma is more about being given the experiences that we give others, so we may see through their eyes. Karmic events are like spiritual role-playing, in that we step into others’ metaphorical shoes and see through their eyes by way of common experiences. Ultimately, karma is a cosmic method for encouraging empathy, and by doing so, making us all closer—one action at a time.
U.S. News from the Future
In U.S. news about the struggle for equality, expect a strong connection to be established between Ireland and the United States, with positive feelings between the two in support of women’s rights. Some near-future op-eds will conclude that forcing people to have lots of children is a way of keeping them too busy and impoverished to have the time to fight the system. Forced birth is also a method for ensuring future soldiers for fighting inevitable wars in which the ultra-wealthy can make profit. Profit will be deemed a primary motivation when it comes to this loss of human rights.
According to the Ace of Wands, this week is generally a time of growth. Sometimes outgrowing the past can cause discomfort, and the distress you see reflected in upcoming news is part of the reason that we will be witnessing regressive attempts to return to the past in unproductive ways. The people who want to hold onto power are often those that most of the rest of us would rather not have in power. This tension between what is and what most of us want will manifest as an upcoming cultural clash, literally played out in the streets between old forms of dying power and newly emerging systems of inclusive, community-oriented influence. Since the older version of unilateral, singularly-led authority no longer offers practicality and is not ideal, and the newer systems of power are not only practical but also idealistic while being purposeful, it is clear who will win this “cultural battle”. Okay, now I really am sounding like the U.S. news because I am diluting the conversation into war analogies!
Future News for You
In your own life, Ace of Wands can signify a time when a renewal of energy and excitement is sought, manifested, or both. This card is telling us to trust our instincts and follow intuition at this time. Additionally, Mercury’s continuation in Gemini over the next couple of weeks makes this a period where the emphasis is on communication, so part of your manifestatin of ideas could be initiated through writing or speaking. This trend of expressing originality with the help of words is especially likely if you are an air sign and even more so if Gemini features prominently in your chart.
