When I was in high school, self-help books that told stories of past life memories were growing in popularity, along with much of the rest of the New Age genre. Some of these books, such as Gloria Chadwick’s Discovering Your Past Lives, provided step-by step instructions on how to conduct your own past life regressions. I brought that past life script to parties where I would guide the group into a past life regression. Eventually, I memorised the script and would conduct mini-regressions at lunchtime on school grounds in exchange for desserts. My sweet tooth was literally driving me to learn hypnosis—but whatever it takes to grow.
Over the years, I have been pleased to notice that past life regression subjects will naturally gravitate towards the previous existences that will help them the most in their lives today. This has also been true for me when I have been regressed. I don’t even need to suggest for a client seek out a lifetime that they most need to experience right now, as their unconscious mind will do that for them. This tendency towards natural self-healing is a testimony to the power of our unconscious minds to give us information from the deepest levels of our minds that we most need to know now.
Similarly, dreams will show us truths we need to see, assist us in personal and relationship growth, act as healing experiences, warn us about potential problems, notify us of likely opportunities, and give us creative ideas that can contribute to the heightening of collective consciousness. Past life regressions can offer self-improvement in some of the ways that dreams can, yet regressions utilise a more accelerated and intentional methodology. If you want to change quickly and outgrow past patterns, a past life regression is one of the quickest ways to achieve your goals.I have seen people overcome multiple fears and setbacks, acquire realisations about motivations, and outgrow past career and relationship patterns in the course of an hour or two.
In the following post, I will elaborate on this concept of past life regressions as 1) a technique of accelerated hypnotherapy and 2) an adjunct to dream therapy. I will also be answering the following questions:
*What is the difference between past life and ancestral memories?
*Do I need to believe in past lives in order for a past life regression to work or be helpful?
*What Happens in a Past Life Regression Session?
*Is it possible to regress yourself to a previous lifetime?
*Why Past Life Regressions and Not Age Regressions?
*Can Someone Be Their Own Ancestor? (Hint: Yes, but there are limitations!)
*Theories of Past Life Memory Origins
