Life and Afterlife Coaching: "Is it Possible to be Successful Without Being Competitive?"
Competing in the Ring of Life
We had the pleasure of speaking with actress and former WWE Diva Amy Weber on tonight's episode of "Diva vs. Diva". She spoke to us about the clarity that can come from a spiritual source when making decisions at pivotal moments in one's life. Achieving a goal often requires perseverance and is sometimes a struggle, but it doesn't have to be a competition. It seems that most people who achieve long-term success focus more on developing their skills and less on competing with others, whether that's in one's career or in the world of dating.
If the the highest good of everyone involved in a project is honoured, the entire team potentially benefits more than if we are all fighting for one position. Community can overcome competition. This topic is brilliantly covered in Steven Pressfield's book The War of Art, which explains how a true professional dedicates himself to mastering a technique by not allowing the judgment of others to distract him from his true goal: that of creating a work of art. Some of the greatest artists, actors and spiritual practitioners of all time have developed an ability to set aside their ego in order to play a role, create a masterpiece, or access a message from the Afterlife. By letting go of a need to be validated, it becomes possible to be completely expressive and therefore to contribute a unique and meaningful statement to the world in a form that it has never existed before. We have a choice to share our voice every second of the day, based on the particular experiences we've encountered in this life and others up to this very moment in history. Surely it's possible to be unconditionally creative while still supporting others, despite any resistance we may encounter along the way. When more people work together for the common good, something of lasting greatness can truly be achieved.
