Life and Afterlife Coaching: "Does God Exist?"
I'm not religious, but I know that there is a power higher than myself which I regard as a universal consciousness. There has to be, as the world existed before I got here so there is something greater than all of us. If I play the part like an actor and pretend that there's something unseen and yet to be determined by science, the results of that experiment could be beneficial. After all, there's so much we know now that wasn't yet proven with evidence hundreds of years ago, and so much more to be discovered in the future. I risk nothing by opening myself up to the possibility of a Great Spirit, but I gain something every time I give myself permission to believe. For some, that Great Spirit is the Universe, the Higher Power of a group consciousness, various Gods, one's own imaginative interpretation of God, the higher ideal of universal love, or Nature itself. The semantics aren't important, as feelings tend to be more meaningful in relationships than labels.
One way to conduct the experiment is through prayer, and another is meditation. Meditation is a chance to listen to the Universe, and prayer is the opportunity to be heard and acknowledged by something greater than ourselves. Prayer is a voluntary reprogramming of the subconscious mind. The change in attitude and increased gratitude that results from this act of interaction with a potential beyond my physical existence tends to alter my behaviour and consequently improves my life.
