7 of Cups “Love Themes and Lucid Dreams: Venus in Pisces”

News from the Future: Tarot Card of the Week
7 of Cups
A shadowed figure faces choices of seven cups suspended in clouds. Each cup contains a different fate, including a castle, jewels, a victory wreath depicting accomplishment, a dragon, a snake, a spirit, and a person who possibly represents a potential relationship. This scene is set against a plain blue backdrop, upon which more of the figure’s fantasies can be projected.
According to this card, choices may be abundant but the best direction to take might be unclear at this time, resulting in confusion. Sometimes confusion can be a gift, providing just the delays that are needed to prevent someone from taking action before the ideal time. This game of choice is a little like reading a “Choose Your Own Adventure” book. While the 7 of Cups card emphasises the opportunity to choose, that freedom is also accompanied by the possibility of making a less-than-favourable decision. As a cup card carrying fantasy themes, it aligns well with Venus in Pisces and it just so happens that Venus entered Pisces last week. Generally, the suit of Cups in tarot rules water signs Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, and the 7 of Cups is a Piscean card.
A mystical image that encourages imaginative adventures and daydream expeditions, the 7 of Cups can also represent film, television, and media. When Venus in Pisces is conjunct with Neptune in Pisces, deceptive advertising (especially from the fossil fuel industry) and conspiracy theories could be heightened at this time. This is a card of fairy tales, so beware of false hope, even if the stories and promises we are privy to in upcoming news may sound ideal. Mirages in the globally warmed desert of tech climate “fixes” will continue in the news this week and beyond. Ineffective, highly experimental climate “solutions” will create more noticeable obstacles when Saturn enters Pisces in March. Until then, it will help to question the motives of news sources and advertisers and what they stand to gain financially by promoting their favourite climate narratives.
A positive aspect of this card is how it demonstrates that more is possible than the Querent may have originally thought, which is a reminder that solutions to complex problems can appear out of nowhere if given enough time, and sometimes at the least expected times. Being a Pisces-oriented card, the 7 of Cups encourages the pursuit of universal love that transcends differences, peacefulness, musical connection, meditation, and spiritual exploration.
7 of Cups and the Future of the Climate Crisis
In the next era of human history, imagination, inventiveness, creativity, kindness, and empathy will be more valued than ambition. This shift will require a revolutionary alteration of human consciousness and will be initiated by extreme external circumstances. A collective reaction against centuries of compounded capitalist-induced work stress will result in a questioning of the meaning of “accomplishments”. In this future period, op-ed articles will consider that perhaps the most important accomplishments are the lasting ways we can make a positive impact on one another’s lives. The climate crisis disrupts human rights even as it fosters increased humanitarianism. The latter happens out of necessity but also because, as we will see through upcoming brave climate actions, most people truly want what is best for each other. We wouldn’t have survived as a species to this point if we didn’t feel a familial interdependence. The current problem is that too few people have too much power. According to The Dunning-Kruger effect, if someone is incompetent or lacking in skills they are cognitively unable to perceive their limitations. If they are also sociopathic or psychopathic, those who suffer from grandiose self-perception will tend to be more attracted to powerful positions where they can avoid consequences for behaviour that wouldn’t be otherwise tolerated. This evasion of repercussions also feeds into their delusion of invincibility, causing the attainment of these positions to further embolden their distorted belief in their abilities. We are basically a society of mostly carers and empaths who are being ruled by the less plentiful but more ambitious psychopaths and sociopaths.
You may or may not agree with this theory, but at least some if not many in power are acting without a conscience in the face of the overwhelming scientific evidence of climate breakdown. The old system is broken and never worked for most. We know that because most people have been and continue to be forced to endure poverty and unnecessary hardship. This disparity, inequity, and inequality can change.
The dreamers and carers of the world have an important position in future times and will be far more valued than they have been in the past. The activism and unification that Pluto in Aquarius brings in March will be an opportunity for people to gather power in a bigger way than ever before. We can use that newfound power to promote the common good for all present and future living beings. Youth climate activists have already embodied this spirit. They have set the stage for the steps that every generation can take to join in supporting them so we can reach critical, time-sensitive climate goals together. Solidarity has never been more needed than now, nor has it had the potential to bring about such significant and far-reaching future transformation.

“Theorist and playwright Jean-Paul Sartre maintained, ‘Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does’. In World News From the Future, the 7 of Cups can denote the problem of having too many choices…
…we will see those same individuals (especially billionaires) paying for PR that promotes their supposedly ‘ingenious’ ideas that will be looked back on as dangerous jokes. This outright propaganda delays and distracts while ‘greed ghouls’ continue to collect. The actual answers are in degrowth, not more growth, and capitalism on its own does not benefit from less production, only more. We are witnessing an attempt to drag out the fourth-stage Industrial Revolution for as long as possible. Yet as we already know, the theory of infinite growth on a finite planet is an illusory fiction that has already failed phenomenally in practise…”

“We can expect cases of groups speaking up against questionable practises that favour bigger businesses as Pluto moves out of Capricorn this March, where it has been since 2008 (incidentally, 2007-2008 was the period of the WGA Strike that sparked an increase in reality TV production). Future times will study the cultural phenomenon of reality TV as one of the more visible expressions of the excesses of late-stage capitalism…
The irony of this genre’s name is that ‘reality TV’ does not represent reality but instead is a play upon perceptions of reality, in addition to reenactments of reality, making it an example of 7-of-Cups illusory entertainment. Is it even possible to be “real” when you know you are being watched? This phenomenon of being unable to avoid changed behaviour when one is aware of viewers is covered in the theory of the Quantum Zeno Effect, which is based on one of Zeno’s Paradoxes.
Basically, an object being observed will not behave the same as when it is unobserved, and the same holds true for humans. According to this concept, interaction with a system changes the motion of that system. And yes, that can have implications for how thoughts interact with reality (which I will cover in another article). In reality TV, the Quantum Zeno Effect is only one of the components that contribute to an unavoidably unrealistic depiction of human interactions. I’ll detail other factors in the extended version of this article below. Meanwhile, this educational video from PBS provides more details about the Quantum Zeno Effect:
In the end, firsthand stories of deception and exploitation will wear away at the illusion of reality in a genre that is designed for either escaping capitalist suffering or promoting fantasies of capitalist fortune. Either way (and despite the boom being a result of writer’s strikes) reality TV has helped subdue the masses. As capitalism becomes increasingly unpopular, this genre will have to change…

Venus in Pisces similarly relates to dreams of possible love or even predictions that can arise in dreams of future people you might meet. Because Pisces is a spiritual and incorporeal sign, sometimes these dreams are actual connections you are making with someone else on a soul level before you encounter them in the third dimension…
Astrologically, the power of dreams and hypnosis may intensify for a couple of days between February 18th and 19th…”
